cork in a bottle...

Alright ya'll...we had an email forwarded to us this week & we decided to give the "experiments" a try.  But 1st, I need to say that up until Thursday my calves were still sore from the barefoot run.  So, I might renege & say that we should follow the loud sales guy advice & walk around in the Vibram 5 Fingers shoes for a couple of weeks before attempting a run in them.  We did a 5K run this morning...& although I would have really liked to run in the 5 Fingers...I just didn't think it was a good idea.  So, I will continue to become acquainted with them & let ya'll know when I officially run my 1st 5K in them...stayed tune.  :)

sweet feet, man...ten-4

Okay...so, after all my talk about barefoot running I finally did it (well, ol' mom-in-law encouraged it)...but, I did it nonetheless.  I bought a pair of Vibram FiveFingers Bilkila kicks.  I was scared to try them...plus, they look a little ridiculous...not gonna lie. :)  The awfully loud talking sales guy said to walk in them for a couple of weeks to kind of get accustomed to them before you try running in them.  So, on this lovely Sunday afternoon I threw them on & headed for the treadmill. I walked for 0.25 miles and decided that I was about two weeks good & started running away.  Kooper was annoyed as usual when I utilize my weird walking machine & was barking, but I felt like I was ready to run hundreds of miles in my sweet new zapatos.  I felt like I had perfect form (duh, what'd you expect from an expert barefoot runner like myself...I mean, I've been talking about it for months now, maybe even year(s)) and was not feeling any sort of pain.  Okay, fast forward one mile, I still felt okay but my calves started to burn so I thought maybe I should switch it back to the ol' reliable Asics. After about four miles I jumped off the 'mill; my Achilles was a little tender, but overall I felt fine.  I'm not going to say that I'll be buzzing around miles in my 5 fingers any time soon but it was a start & definitely not as bad as I thought it could've been.  I couldn't bring myself to wear them to the gym tonight...I think it's a little to early for that but, I'm willing to keep trying them out.  My Achilles are still sore and I'm sure they will be for a couple of more days but give me a little while longer & I'll be sporting them all around town...maybe even Vegas???

whoa, big foot!

which pair is the fastest??? kooper's for sure :) i <3 that dog!

here they are in all their glory...

front shot...sorry, not sure why the treadmill is dusty & those man legs...geez!! lol

NYE 2010...

Well...it's January 16 and I'm finally blogging about our New Year's Eve.  We had a fantastic night hanging out with my parents and our kool kat friends in the big O at a bangin' house party...whaaa whhhattt.  It turned into a crazy dance party with about twelve 30 year olds (okay, 31 really...but, who's counting that extra year??? rb & I are still in our 'early' 30s) dancing in a living room, while couches were being thrown around...wth?! It was brilliant time...especially the toooot machine.  Why is this so funny???
