Last night we did it!  We had a succesful party with 18 whole people!! How exciting...Ryan and I woke up this morning feeling like solid party planners/hosts.  I'm pretty sure everyone had a pretty good time...I know Kooper did, he's barely moved all day...same for his parents...  :)

moving right along...

We planted the spinach, broccoli, carrots, peas, and lettuce last week and of course we're suppose to have a freeze tonight...so, even though everything says 'frost hardy, ' I'm too scared to risk it so we covered the plants up. lol.  The remaining plants in the greenhouse are the peppers, artichokes, tomatoes, and onions.  I think everything should turn out good. Ryan hooked up the rain barrel too...so, we are ready!  Bring on the hot weather...please!!!

growth in the greenhouse...

Alright...if there is ever an apocalypse y'all can come over to our house to eat...check out these pics from the greenhouse.  Remember, I only planted the seeds one week ago today.  Stuff started coming up as early as Thursday and is literally growing at an hourly rate!!! Dang!! We've got spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, onions, carrots, & peas... We bought about 3,000 pounds of dirt yesterday, filled in the garden boxes & various spots in the lawn that needed some dirt, and laid down some grass seed.  Next weekend I'm going to transplant the broccoli, spinach, carrots, and peas (the cool weather plants).  I'm also going to throw down some lettuce seeds to see what happens. Hopefully the weather stays nice!  HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY-probably my favorite holiday!!  :)

2 for the price of 1...

Alright...2 blogs in one day...geez...life's getting exciting now...

It's that time of year again...well, actually, it's past that time of year again, but it'll all work out.  Hopefully you have planted your seeds and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of planting your garden!  Unlike us...but, today's the big day! We have added (Ryan has built) another raised box this year in the hopes that it will produce mass amounts of product for our consumption.  We have also purchased 3 variety of hops so that Ryan can use them in his brewery making.  However, the hops take about two years to produce any cones for usage so you'll need to stayed tune until next year for that.

Last year we only had one raised garden box.  I can't say that it was a totally successful year...but, we gave it a good go.  Our tomatoes didn't produce anything until about October, our snap peas had about 2 pea pods, and our carrots & onions never made an appearance...but, we had a lot of cucumbers, green peppers, and jalapenos.  So, let me know if you know of a good recipe involving cucumbers, green peppers, and jalapenos because if that's the only 3 products I can garden I'll need to be prepared...

RB's homemade greenhouse!

A bunch of dirt goes in the boxes
Thanks MINI for being my seed pack holder...
About 2 hours later...that was a lot of work!

Let me know if you have any great gardening advice or if you'd like some plants...I think I'll have plenty to share :)  Oh, and yes...the 'greenhouse' is in our living room...

long time/no see...

Hey everyone...I've had a few nasty comments lately about not posting anything; and it looks like it's almost been one month!  Well...I've been a little busy trying to come up with sweet ideas and time just flew by! So, take it easy on this ol' girl...:)  Actually, our latest 'trick' I think is a little bit of a dud...but, we'll see what you think.

While traveling in the Asias...I came across this gravity defying way of opening a bottle of beer with a bottle a beer!  Whoa..what was that? Yeah, that's what I said when the guys were opening one after the other w/o a bottle opener.  I (one of the few...well only one) thought it was pretty cool.  After thinking about for a long time, I figured that there probably weren't always bottle openers so humans had to come up with a way of opening them...and what easier way then with another bottle?! Simply amazing...once again.

It should be noted that when I looked this up on YouTube, it apparently isn't a widely known secert...who knew?!
