backyard wildlife...

I like my backyard birds and wildlife.  Does this make me 'old'?  I have a pocket field guide (for Kansas) bird book.  Does this make me a 'nerd'?  Although some may answer "yes" to both questions, bird watching is a fantastic way to spend your Saturday mornings! (again-does this make me an 'old nerd'?) I'll admit, aside from robins, I never knew other types of birds were in the city.  I figured all of the 'exciting' colorful birds were in the wild.  A couple of years ago, rb bought me a bird feeder pole system.  This piece of backyard equipment has been the topic of many conversations and a A LOT of excitement! Don't believe me, well just ask Wilma...my 80+ year old neighbor ;) Old Nerd or not, if you ever decide to stop by, you'll be simply amazed...

I've realized that I don't have any pictures of the local woodpeckers and several other common (exciting) birds we have.  I just bought some bark butter which should yield some good pics. I will work on this and post them sometime in the future.  Keep checking back for another exciting bird post!!!

Also, as your local bird expert (as seen from the aforementioned photos) please let me know if you have any questions...

And, since I've (obviously) somewhat mastered the bird scene around here...I'm working on identifing bird tweets.  This is proving very difficult...haha.  So much for this old bird nerd...

And one last note...I'm not the only one who lives at this house that likes birds, bird watching, & bird noises...just sayin'...

  1. Is your love for "Birding" the result of breaking one of your "Tall Man" digits during a HS track meet? I look forward to "The Mission" updates.
